away at a strong Wrekin side.

The game started with Wrekin dominating possession and creating half chances, Goalkeeper John Pilling keeping Tamworth in the match early on.  After 15 minutes Tamworth changed formation to compete more in the midfield and this adjustment paid off when the away side came back into the match – some play in the Wrekin half led to a short corner – where tried and trusted partnership of Jez Holloway and Simon Bowyer saw the away side score and take a 1-0 lead as the one two combination paid off as Bowyer despatched the ball home beautifully.

As the second half begin Wrekin created and had more opportunities to level and further saves from Pilling and also wasted opportunities helped Tamworth maintain the lead.  Wrekin must have had at least a dozen short corners.  Midway through the 2nd half Tamworth got another one, that man Bowyer again, this time a thunderous short corner strike into the back board gave Tamworth the 2-0 lead.  The homes side dejected.

Wrekin continued to push to get back int the match and this led to several breakaway chances for Tamworth to make it safe, however those chances were squandered.  In the last 5 minutes Wrekin did pull one back to make it a nervy few moments, but Tamworth held strong and thanks to that Bowyer brace, picked up the 3 points.
