Tamworth Men’s 2nds hit for 6!

A 100% winning start to the season ended abruptly for the 2’s as they were well beaten away Vs Wednesbury.

Tamworth, missing several key players started the game well and it was a competitive 1st half, with limited chances for both sides.  Midway through the 1st half Wednesbury took the lead after a short corner routine.  Key defender Simon Bowyer was struck on the knee which led to him being unable to continue as the 1st half ended at 1-0.

Bowyer, a huge loss in the heart of the defence told, with further injuries to Logan Convey, Jack Corden and Robert Busby throughout the match led to Wednesbury gaining the advantage and the game swung in a 10-minute period where the home side scored 4 in quick succession.  Some superb saves by Jack Corden throughout the second half helped the away side, but the damage was done.  A late goal finished of the scoring at 6-0, a disappointing display by Tamworth.  A notable thanks and well done to Simon Gilbert and Elliot Nutter who supported the team from the 3rd team and did brilliantly.
