Tamworth Men's Seconds Vs Cannock 3

Tamworth 2nds returned to action in 2026 with a tightly contested match Vs Cannock.

The match got of to a tentative start with both sides working each other out – both sides creating early opportunities, but it was the away side who struck first after some good play inside the Tamworth half leaving Jack Corden with no chance.

Cannock pushed on for a second, however Jez Holloway picked up the ball far right side and pinged a pass up to Dave Belson who was able to run on to the ball and some great skill weaved in and out of 3 Cannock players before drawing the keeper out and finishing with a neat flick.  Tamworth made it count with some great urgency after pulling it to 1-1 and again that man Holloway found Cam Hunter inside the D who was able to neatly despatch into the bottom corner leaving the Goalkeeper with no chance.  Tamworth led at Half Time 2-1.

The second half did see Cannock press for an equaliser, and some great saves from Goalkeeper Jack Corden, and some crucial tackles from Simon Bowyer – holding strong at the back.  Simon Bowyer was the inspiration for Tamworth who fired a superb pass splitting the whole pitch and into front man Dave Belson who was 1 on 1 with the centre back, he controlled, fired a good pass out to Jez Holloway who drew out the remaining defender and returned the pass back to Dave Belson who ensured he found his 2nd of the match with a really cool finish – 3-1 the home side and maybe match over!

Cannock did push again and made it a very nervy last 5 minutes, as Tamworth sat back and you could see the tired legs were there after a long Christmas break and this told as Cannock overloaded Tamworth to leave Jack Corden no chance and make it 3-2.  The home side hung in deep and secured the 3 points.
