| Match Report | Well, what a game, a fixture that has always been fractious between rival Tamworth and Bloxwich didn’t disappoint this weekend. Tamworth just fell short this weekend vs an in form and physical Bloxwich side. Umpires Dan Ravenscroft and Dave Starkey must have thought it was Christmas come early after issuing out 8 cards in this match – the majority of these cards going to the away side – even including the manager!
Bloxwich took an early lead through some neat play leading to a 1-on-1 situation, Tamworth with poor availability this weekend had the bare bones and picked up an early injury so played the first 20 minutes with 10 men, but they struck back with a neat penalty stroke through Jez Holloway. Bloxwich fired back shortly through a really well taken short corner drag flick leaving Jack Corden with no chance.
Tamworth rallied, and took advantage of Bloxwich losing their discipline and gained the momentum with a great team goal, good hockey down the wings through Cam Hunter, Logan Convey finding Dave Belson who despatched against the oncoming keeper to take the game back to 2-2.
The second half was very stop start due to lots of little fouls with the game struggling to have any flow at all, eventually mid way through the 2nd half an error from Tamworth who presented the ball directly to the Bloxwich centre forward who was clean through and hit a very good strike into the bottom corner – 3-2 to Bloxwich. Tamworth pushed for a way to get back into the game, but Bloxwich held firm and eventually sealed the game with a break away goal to make the final score 4-2.
