Match Report

Tamworth played some wonderful hockey in this drama filled fixture which ended in a 4-4 draw for the 2nd time this season.

Tamworth took an early lead after much domination through a short corner routine seeing Bowyer fire the ball to Hancox who reverse stick magic found the back of the net to take the away side 1-0 ahead.  Tamworth had multiple opportunities to stretch their lead put failed to find the back of the net and Old Wulfs struck back with a short corner goal, 1-1.

The game reverted back to Tamworth having the majority of chances and a great breakaway and good interplay with Belson and Goode, saw Belson swoop in to find the back of the net after Goode shot was saved by the keeper.  The half ended 2-1 to Tamworth.

In the 2nd half Tamworth were very slow out of the blocks and a defensive mix up left an easy tap in to make it 2-2.  Old Wulfs then had more control of the ball and missed a few chances to take the lead.  Then the perfect counter attack goal happened, Bowyer, a quick 16 to Holloway, who found Goode roaming down the right , he cut in to the D and pulled it back to Belson who cutely found the bottom corner – what a goal – 3-2 Tamworth!  Tamworth pushed and pushed to extend their lead and they did so with Belson finding his Hattrick , a ball from Hunter and a first time strike flew into the net leaving the keeper no chance! 4-2 Tamworth.

Tamworth sat back and soaked up pressure, but this pressure told as Old Wulfs found another goal leaving it a tense final 5 minutes.  In the last 5 minutes some questionable umpiring decision after a short corner goal was given, where the ball did not leave the D and should have been disallowed was indeed allowed and this saw Tamworth have 3 players sent off.  The match at 4-4 – Tamworth ending up hanging on with 8 players and the match ended 4-4.

Man of the Match James Goode, for 2 assists and a superb performance.
