Tamworth delivered an excellent all-round performance to secure a convincing 5–1 victory away at Stafford, pulling away strongly after a competitive first half.

The visitors made a solid start and took control early on with goals from Terry Sperrink and Tom Hancox, but Stafford responded well to ensure the game remained closely contested. Tamworth edged the first half and went into the break with a 2–1 lead, reflecting a hard-fought opening period.

At the heart of Tamworth’s performance was Phil Blenkinsop, who dominated the midfield throughout. His work rate and composure both in defence and attack helped drive the team forward and maintain control of the game. Behind him, Joe Wood and Carter Bradshaw formed a strong partnership at centre back, providing a solid defensive foundation.

In the second half, Tamworth raised their level and began to take full control. Graeme Cook was the standout in front of goal, completing an impressive hat-trick with clinical finishing.

Tamworth’s attacking quality combined with their defensive discipline proved too much for Stafford, as they saw out the game comfortably to claim a well-deserved win.

Phil Blenkinsop was rightly named Man of the Match for his commanding display in midfield.
