Match Report

Tamworth Ladies 3rd team headed to Sutton for what they knew would be a tough game. Sporting their new kit for the very first time, the town side started brightly, absorbing the Sutton pressure comfortably and growing into the game. Some great passing moves across the midfield involving Caddick, Broadway-Hatton, Haden, Le Grande and Gilbert enabled the town to make progress into attacking positions and eventually lead to a short corner. The resulting strike from Broadway Hatton however was well saved. Sutton continued to press into the town's defensive area and an unfortunate deflection placed the ball on the stick of a Sutton attacker who slotted the ball home, putting the town side one down going into the break. The second half saw the younger Sutton team press higher up the pitch and Tamworth found themselves under pressure. Brooks, Dale and Hutchins held firm in defence with Male making some great saves. A great move by Sutton eventually breached the stalwart defence and a well taken goal put them 2-0 up. Heading into the last 10 minutes the town legs began to tire and the youngsters of Sutton managed to take advantage and find the net twice more. Despite the loss it was a promising game with good performances all round suggesting that there will be points coming town's way as the season progresses. Congratulations to Emma Male whose excellent performance in goal earned her Player of the Match.
