ladies seconds faced third placed Bloxwich on Saturday and were made to work really hard for their 1-0 win. Bloxwich were quick out the blocks as they enjoyed good possession early on but they didn't capitalise on this rarely threatening the towns goal. As the half went on Tamworth started to settle and pass the ball around with more confidence, Anne Marshall used her pace to great effect down the right flank combining well with daughter Hannah as the town forced a number of short corners and from one of these they finally made the breakthrough 3 minutes before half time, Marshall crossing the ball for Resh Kaur to slot home.
The second session saw the home side enjoy more possession and although they weren't at their fluent best their work rate was outstanding as they fought for every ball, a number of goalscoring opportunities were created but the town side were not as clinical in front of goal as in previous weeks and they were unable to add to their score. At the other end of the pitch Tamworth's defence managed the game really well as they shut out Bloxwich before they could threaten their goal, Audrey Warburton was having an impressive game at left back making a number of super tackles and then combining well with the midfield to set Tamworth on their way.
The side are enjoying a fabulous season as they remain unbeaten and sit 12 points clear at the top of the table as they look for immediate return to division 4 following last year's relegation.
