Tamworth ladies 2s & 3s faced each other in this league encounter on Saturday with the 2s coming out on top winning 5-1. However it was the ladies 3s that started the game brightly passing the ball around with confidence and had two good opportunities to take the lead. But after 11 minutes and against the run of play a good run and shot from the top of the 'D' from Paula Cooper gave the 2s the lead, shortly after Phoebe Marsland made it 2-0 with a well taken strike before Claire Miles scored from a short corner to go into the break 3-0 up.
The second session again saw the ladies 3s make the better start with Lucy Wright -Perkins pulling a goal back with a super short corner strike. The 3s then went onto have a good spell of possession as they put pressure on the 2s defence and were once again unlucky not to score, Lesley Broadway -Hatton, Helen Le Grande and Lucy Wright -Perkins were at the heart of their good moves as they drove the team forward. Again it took the ladies 2s time to settle and play with their normal fluency, with credit to the 3s hard work in closing down play forcing the 2s to start playing long balls, too often resulting in lost possession, but as the game went on they started to play quick passes and were rewarded with two more goals, Cooper scored her second and was unlucky not to get her hat trick as she saw a fabulous shot hit the post and clear to safety. Lara Hudson completed the scoring as she scored the 2s fifth and her first ever goal for the club.
A great game played in fantastic spirit.
