Tamworth Mixed Team Vs Berkswell and Walsall common

Tamworth mixed side faced up vs Berkswell on Sunday in the Mixed Cup,

A good turn out for the home side and a rapid fire start saw  the home side go 2-0 in quick succession,

A lovely short corner routine involving Stevie Williams and Ben Popple saw Popple slot the ball home nicely.  His 2nd came no time later when Charley Rowe played a brilliant ball into the D, and Popple managed to use the pace on the ball and deflect this into the back of the net.

Some super performances all round, but Gemma Rowe dominating the midfield battle and creating opportunities to give Tamworth a further lead where thwarted by the away goalkeeper who made a number of fine saves.

The second half saw Tamworth continue to push for that 3rd goal, with chances for Dave Belson, Ben Popple and Gemma Rowe.  Berkswell had rode their luck and began to hold a higher level of possession and managed to pull one back through a neat bit of play from the centre forward making it 2-1.

This charged Tamworth and saw them raise their game again, with some fine skill from Olly Bowyer producing an opportunity in the area for Belson, whose shot saved by the keeper, but Popple was quick to react and at the second time of asking flicked the ball high in to the net to make it 3-1.

The game was wrapped up late on by Belson, who pounced onto a neat ball after some fine build up play to make the final score 4-1 and Tamworth progress into the next round of the Cup!
