Match Report | Tamworth faced Leek at home and produced a laboured display in this week’s fixture. Leek mixing up the start time caused over an hour delay and this led to the game starting slowly. Tamworth holding the majority of the play and possession throughout the first half and after a number of nearly moments for the home side youngster James Whittaker pushed home neatly to make it 1-0. Whilst this was the score at half time, the away keeper had made several good saves from efforts by Hancox & Belson to keep it at 1-0.
In the second half Tamworth began to become a bit complacent and also were over running the ball and not keeping hockey simple, this allowing Leek to drift back into the match. Tamworth again coming close through Holloway, Belson and Hancox but to no avail, perhaps the save of the season from the Leek keeper keeping out a venomous strike from Holloway.
The game was sealed eventually by Tamworth after a scramble in the D and Belson picking up the rebound from another Keeper save to take it round the floored Keeper and tap the ball home notching his 20th league goal of the season and wrapping up all 3 points with a 2-0 home win. |
