Match Report | Tamworth faced local rival Sutton at home this weekend, and the game struck up a great performance from the home side.
Tamworth charged into the lead early through a lovely short corner routine with Simon Bowyer powering home with a fine strike, Tamworth struck another goal following on from another short corner routine where Dan Hutchins notched his 1st of the day with a neat finish.
After early domination, Sutton grew into the game and scored from neat bit of play on the right side. It didn’t take long though for Tamworth to regain their 2 goal lead when some neat work on the right side led to the keeper making a good save, only to see the ball fall to Hutchins, who powered home strike to make it 3-1 at half time.
The second half Sutton looked dangerous and played some good hockey and found the back of the net again through some good hockey, making the game a close affair. It was mid way through the second half that the game was killed off, with a Bowyer drive out to the wing where Hutchins played a great cross field pass to Dave Belson, who rounded the keeper took it to the byline and neatly passed it back to Hutchins to secure his hattrick and put the game out of reach for Sutton.
In the dying moments of the match, James Griffin spun his man, played a lovely through ball on to Dave Belson who hit a first time flick beyond the oncoming keeper to finish he scoring and end the match with a Tamworth 5-2 victory.
