Match Report | Tamworth took another step towards promotion with a hard fought 4-2 win at Market Harborough 2s on Saturday.
Town were missing a number of regular starters including captain Dylan Waldron but still had enough to take 3 points.
Tamworth started strongly and took the lead with a scrappy finish under the keeper from Tom Sperrink before Dom Parry doubled the advantage with a dribble and powerful reverse stick shot high into the net.
Town should have been out of sight as they spurned further chances but let the home side back in when the scored late in the half from a penalty corner.
The second half then saw the lead wiped out as the hosts equalised but Tamworth rallied with Sperrink scoring from the top of the D on the turn from Joe Wood’s pass and finally settled the tie late on when Graeme Cook scored from close range after a cross from the right.
Tamworth maintain their 5 point cushion at the top with just 4 games remaining
