Match Report

Tamworth clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory in a hard-fought away match against Wellingborough, thanks to a last-minute winner from Graeme Cooke. The game was a battle from start to finish, with momentum swinging between the two sides, but Tamworth's determination saw them come away with all three points.

Tamworth began the game on the front foot, opening the scoring early with a calm finish from Alex Cooper following some fantastic passing skill from Gabe Hilton and Olly Bowyer.

Wellingborough responded found their way back into the game. The hosts equalized before the break, using a swift counterattack to breach the Tamworth defense. Wellingborough then edged ahead to 2-1 shortly before halftime with a clinical finish, leaving Tamworth with work to do in the second half.

Half time 2-1

The second half saw Tamworth raise their intensity, battling to regain control and pressuring the Wellingborough defense. Their efforts were rewarded when Alex Cooper doubled his tally after a great section of play involving Phil Blenkinsop, George Ayling and Terry Sperrink collimated together to bring Tamworth level.

With time running out and the score still level, it appeared the match was heading for a draw.

Some strong defensive play from both full backs, Dylan Waldron and Gabe Hilton, topped off with key saves from James Miles kept the scores level despite a pressing Wellingborough attack.

However, Graeme Cooke emerged as the hero for Tamworth, latching onto a well-placed pass in the final minute and firing home the decisive goal to complete the comeback. His strike sealed a memorable 3-2 victory, securing a vital away win for Tamworth in dramatic fashion.

Tamworth secured an important win against a strong opponent from last season, keeping their place at the top of the league and remaining undefeated.
