The ladies 2s had a double header weekend facing fellow strugglers Erewash on Saturday and table topping Belper on Sunday, knowing that they needed at least 3 points from the games to keep their season alive.
Saturday's game against Erewash saw Tamworth start in positive fashion as they dominated the play with their midfield controlling the tempo of the game, the only thing missing was the goal that their play deserved. Beth Wright and Kirsty Brown used their pace well to create a number of opportunities and the towns defence snuffed out any rare Erewash attacks.
The message going into the second half was patience, Tamworth got their wide players to hug the sidelines which created lots of space for the towns midfield to exploit and 10 minutes into the half Tamworth took a well deserved lead, Fiona Wylie drove into the 'D' and saw her shot deflect over the keepers head into the goal. This relaxed the town side and six minutes later Claire Miles added a second with a well taken strike, with Tamworth now in full flow Beth Wright was causing havoc down the left flank with her pace and skill. Fiona Wylie sealed the win with her second of the game from a short corner strike giving the town three massive points in their quest to avoid relegation.
