Match Report | The ladies 2s suffered a fourth consecutive defeat on Saturday to Belper. In awful conditions the town side struggled to keep possession with Belper adapting the better as they passed the ball around nicely putting Tamworth under a lot of early pressure. Tamworth's defensive quartet made a number of good tackles and clearances with GK Nicky Youngman in fine form as she also made some excellent saves to keep the scores level. Tamworth were finding it difficult to build any sustained pressure but had a few breakaway attacks with debutant Gracie-May Prue using her pace well. The deadlock was finally broken with a well worked goal sending Belper into the break a goal to the good. The second session followed a similar pattern to the first with Tamworth relying on breakaway attacks, and having to do a lot of defending. The town's best opportunity of the half came when Phoebe Phillips made a super run down the right flank beating a number of players before sending a super ball across the 'D' . Paula Cooper, Cathy Thacker and Clare Phillips all made goalline clearances before Belper added two more goals making the final score 3-0, with relegation a real threat for the town side they will be hoping for better fortunes in the second half of the season. PoM Nicky Youngman. |
