The ladies 2s recorded their second win of the season on Saturday with a dominant performance against Woodlands. Tamworth made a bright start with some excellent play down the right flank creating early chances with Phoebe Marsland and Issy Wright both going close to opening the scoring. The town side were enjoying lots of possession, making great connections all over the pitch and building attacks from the back, the pressure finally told when in the 19th minute Elaine Foxley opened the scoring as she followed up her own shot with a super reverse stick strike to wrong foot the keeper. Tamworth's defensive quartet Paula Cooper, Sam Bowyer, Audrey Warburton and Jo Bryan were really solid as they limited Woodlands threat and the town went into the break 1-0 up.
Tamworth started the second session on the front foot, as they controlled the tempo of the game and continued to dominate proceedings, passing the ball around in style and 7 minutes into the half another flowing move found Claire Miles at the top of the 'D' who fired home to make the score 2-0. Youngsters Issy Wright and Phoebe Marsland worked hard all game with Jo Bryan having an excellent second half making a number of defence splitting passes to set up chances that the town should have capitalised on. As the half went on the game became a little stretched as play went end to end, GK Emma Male made a couple of important saves to keep the town's lead intact, but a breakaway attack in the 68th minute saw Woodlands pull a goal back but with only 2 minutes remaining Tamworth kept possession well to see out the game and come away with a well deserved win.
