The ladies 2s started their league campaign on Saturday with 5-3 loss to local rivals Lichfield. Tamworth made a slow start to the game finding themselves 2-0 down in the opening 10 minutes, with a different formation it took the town side a while to settle into good patterns of play, but they started to find their rhythm as they created chances to get back into the game. In an excellent 15 minute spell the town side turned the game around Claire Miles scored from a short corner then added a second from the penalty spot when Gemma Rayson's shot was blocked on the line by a defenders foot, before Anne Marshall gave the town the lead. Unfortunately the town's lead was short-lived as Lichfield hit back to go into the break all square.
Feeling positive after the break Tamworth's second half performance was good, youngsters Phoebe Marsland and Isobel Wright worked tirelessly and combined well in attack. Although the town side had opportunities to add to their score they were denied by some good goalkeeping and defending by Lichfield, and with a couple of subs at their disposal Lichfield took advantage as Tamworth tired to score twice, taking all three points.
