Match Report

Tamworth headed to Shrewsbury full of optimism after securing their first league point of the season the previous weekend and moving off the bottom of the table. Despite yet again coming up against a younger and larger squad, the town side held their own for the majority of the first half against a side currently second in the table. Tamworth forced an early short corner but were unable to convert. However, the training sessions were clearly paying off with some excellent passing moves out of defence and across the midfield leading to more opportunities but it was not to be.

Shrewsbury took the lead late in the first half when Keeper Emma Male was unsighted allowing a half hearted effort to find it's way into the Tamworth goal.

Town continued to defend valiantly in the second half with Bravington making some excellent tackles and Male continuing to deny the opposition the chance to capitalise on their lead. However the defence was breached again with a fortunate shot from Shrewsbury which found its way into the net, followed quickly by the conversion of a short corner.

There was much to be pleased about in Tamworth's performance against the team that is now top of the table and it won't be long before Tamworth are finding the net and some more points themselves.
