4-4

Tamworth 2nds faced up against 3rd in the league in a nicely contested fixture.

It was Tamworth who struck first in this goal fest, when Jez Holloway slipped in Dave Belson who struck neatly into the bottom corner giving the away side the lead.  North Staffs responded very well with good possession based hockey, this led to a number of chances and striking twice in quick session through neat short corner routines the home side went 2-1 up.  North Staffs contin

ued to move the ball well, and pressed for the 3rd.  Tamworth dug in well and after a change in formation a good run from James Goode and a cross into the box led to a James Whittaker deflected goal and both sides going in at half time at 2-2.

The second half, Tamworth started brightly and after some neat work Jez Holloway gained his 2nd assist through a neat pass in to the D, where Dave Belson struck firm into the net and Tamworth again went ahead.  After going behind North Staffs responded well with high possession and grabbed an equaliser through their third short corner routine making it 3-3 and looked likely for a win.  Tamworth, who defended resiliently and youngster and Man of the Match for Tamworth Josh Andrews who made a number of good tackles, interceptions and general good defensive work held strong.  Their defensive worked was rewarded with Dave Belson netting his hattrick after a scramble in the D, and neatly flicking in to put Tamworth back in front and on track to go top of the league.  Moments left in the game and a controversial short corner award to the home side saw North Staffs score their 4th short corner of the game and ending the scoring leaving the final score at 4-4.
