Tamworth faced Northampton this week. The home team Tamworth delivered an exhilarating performance to secure a narrow 4-3 victory over Northampton in a fiercely contested battle that featured end to end moments throughout.

From the opening moments, Tamworth exhibited their attacking intent, eager to assert dominance on the field. It was Tamworth who drew first blood, with forward Alex Cooper calmly slotting a precise lifted strike past the Northampton goalkeeper to give his team an early 1-0 lead.

Tamworth kept the pressure on against the Northampton defence and quickly doubled their lead with a well-worked team goal through midfielders Elliott Birchall, Ian Wagstaff, James Whittaker and a clinical finish from striker Alex Cooper, Tamworth went 2-0 up.

As the first half progressed, Tamworth kept control of the match, showcasing their attacking prowess with another goal. Midfielder Ian Wagstaff put Tamworth further ahead with a precision finish from a penalty corner, to put Tamworth 3-0 up before the half time whistle.

Despite the best efforts of defenders Joe Wood and Simon Bowyer, Northampton were able to grab one back just before the break.

Half time 3-1

The second half began with Tamworth on the back foot of momentum, Northampton capitalised on this and once again, despite the best efforts of defender Dylan Waldron and Goalkeeper James Miles, Northampton scored another to bring the score to 3-2 and add some fire into the game.

With tensions running high and the match hanging in the balance, Tamworth maintained their composure and reacted to the goal conceded in the strongest for, with a decisive goal from Striker Alex Cooper, who capitalized on a defensive error to restore the team's two-goal advantage at 4-2 and to complete his Hat Trick.

Northampton continued to press forward relentlessly, and their efforts were rewarded with a late goal to bring the score to 4-3 setting up a tense finale as they pushed for an equalizer in the dying moments.

However, Tamworth's defense held firm under pressure and a barrage of short corners in quick succession with a key deflection by Elliott Birchall and an essential block from Dylan Waldron thwarted Northampton's late surge to secure a hard-fought 4-3 victory showcasing their resilience and determination to claim all three points.
