Match Report

Tamworth looked to bounce back this week against Wellingborough.

Tamworth started the game in control with some swift movement of the ball across the pitch as well as some solid possession play.

Tamworths attack was strong with some chances from both Tom Hancox and Ben Bowyer narrowly missing the mark. Tamworth didn't give up and after a quick succession of short corners, Elliott Birchall was able to covert and give Tamworth the lead.

Despite continuing to press up the forward and some strong play from Midfielder Jake Millander and Andy MacManus, Tamworth were caught on the break and Wellingborough equalised to bring the score to 1-1.

Tamworth defended hard and narrowly avoided conceding again but some great work from Goalkeeper James Miles kept out the attacking side.

Half time 1-1

Tamworth started the second half with some hard work ahead of them in order to capture the win. However they pushed up the field and created some strong pressing play in order to create multiple chances that unfortunately didn't result in a goal but did force a save from the goal keeper.

After some calm possession play between Joe Wood, Ian Wagstaff and Carter Bradshaw, a break in the Wellingborough defense enable Tom Hancox to get a shot off and push Tamworth into the lead.

Tamworth then set up defensively inorder to hold off a pressing attack mounted by Wellingborough. The defensive works of Dylan Waldron, accompanied by some more Key saves by James Miles kept them at bay.

Zak Smalley create a solo attempt with a run through 3 defenders but the keeper unfortunately stopped the attack by pushing the ball wide.

This was Tamworths final attack as they held off the attack of Wellingborough to capture their 2nd win of the season and push them into 4th in the league.

Final score 2-1
