Tamworth Ladies Thirds Vs North Staffs 2s

Tamworth Ladies 3rds faced a strong, well drilled North Staffs side who from the start dominated the game but had several chances thwarted by the resolute Tamworth defence. North Staffs finally broke through after 20 minutes and scored two quick goals. A goal line clearance by Audrey Warburton and tighter defending continued to frustrate the North Staffs forwards until they again broke through to score a 3rd in the second half. Tamworth than rallied and got their passing going resulting in a couple of shots on goal by Elaine  Foxley forcing the North Staffs keeper to make some great saves. Foxley persisted and was rewarded with a brilliant individual goal after receiving the ball from Lesley Broadway in a quickly taken long corner. Tamworth had a few more breakaway chances involving some great moves by their three youngsters Jess Byrant, Ella Morris and Emily Barker before succumbing to two late goals from short corners resulting in a 5-1 defeat.
