Match Report

How pleased we all are that hockey is back! Tamworth after waiting the outcome from Landau re being able to play on their pitches have now had two training sessions, two friendlies and one league game.

Saturday the ladies 1sts hosted Towcester.  Tamworth did not start the game very switched on, in the first 15 minutes Towcester were first to the ball, and were working hard for each other which paid off with an early goal.  Tamworth were in their defensive 25 working hard, Connie Wain took a save on the floor and Towcester were first their to scoop high into the top left corner to get their second but Rachel Rowe on the line took the ball down and cleared.  With the pressure still on Towcester scored their second through a penalty corner.  Tamworth had their wake up call, the rest of the first half Tamworth passed the ball well, keeping possession, and created chances.  Tamworth got a goal back before half term which came from Izzy Hounsome playing a ball wide right to find Tara Wylie who carried with pace and did a hard hit into the ‘D’ to find Stevie Williams who took the ball on her reverse stick and found the back of the net.

All through the second half Tamworth had the majority of possession, everyone worked hard for each other and were unlucky not too convert some great hard crosses from Tara Wylie.  The equaliser came from a quick ball from the back to Gemma Rowe who carried it and then a long direct hit found Alex Gayton who had one on one with the keeper, Alex kept her nerve, moved the goal keeper and slotted it home.  Tamworth continued for the win and were unfortunate not to get the 3 points they deserved.
