Match Report

Tamworth travelled to Aldersley to play Wats 4s on Saturday knowing it would be a close game. Once again the town side had to play against a team fielding 11 outfield players and no goalkeeper. The game started brightly with both teams attacking and wanting the first goal. There were lots of great moves in midfield getting the ball through to the D but the Wats backline were holding firm. Wats were quick on the break and caught out the Tamworth defence on a couple of occasions but couldn't find the finishing shot. The deadlock was broken by a great move, started in the Tamworth defence, with excellent passing of the ball all the way through to the D for Chris Mander to score. Unfortunately this spurred Wats on and they managed to pull a goal back with a quick break and a scrappy, bobbling ball ending up in the goal. This remained the score until half time.

In the second half Wats seemed to have more possession and kept attacking but the Tamworth defence managed to keep them out. There were still a few Tamworth attacks and short corners but none could be converted. With less than 2 minutes to go a Wats players got into the D but luckily she couldn't find a way past the keeper and the final score was a 1 all draw. A good effort from everyone in the team.

Youngsters Beth Wright, Alicia Dennison and Zoe Aldridge had great games, battling and running hard with superb perseverance. TPOM was shared between Beth and Alicia and LPOM was awarded to Zoe.
