Match Report

Tamworth travelled to Aldersley for their 3rd league match of the season versus WATS. In cold and wet conditions the town side started brightly with lots of possession, great passes and piling the pressure on the WATS defence. The midfield and attackers worked well together to keep the pressure on but were unable to convert any of the many chances that they were creating. Youngsters Hannah Roberts and Tilly Bryan played particularly well alongside Elaine Foxley. There was the odd attack from WATS in the first half but these few attacks were well defended by Tamworth and at half time the score remained 0-0.

WATS started the brighter of the two teams after the break and early on in the 2nd half they forced a short corner but the shot went wide. Soon after Tamworth got their rhythm back and started piling on the pressure again and finally scored the first goal of the game coming form a great shot from Tilly Bryan. Again the town side forced lots of corners and chances from open play but were unable to convert any more. WATS rallied and managed to grab a goal on the break to level the score. This goal livened them up and they continued to pressurise the Tamworth defence in the last 10 minutes of the game, but some vital saves from GK Vicky Butler and great defensive work from LPOM Sam Bowyer alongside Wendy Garrett and Vicky Sanford kept the score level until the final whistle.

It was a great team performance with everyone playing their part and Tamworth unlucky not to pick up all 3 points.
