Match Report

The ladies thirds secured their second league win thanks to a hat-trick from Captain Claire Miles and one from Di Milner.  The town struck early when Emily Barker and Tilly Bryan combined well to set up Claire Miles who was rather fortunate to see her shot go in.  Tamworth then struggled to find any rhythm to their play as they gave away possession far too often.  Stone created chances of their own having a goal disallowed and only a brilliant goal line clearance from Sam Bowyer keeping the towns lead intact at half time.

Although still not at their best Tamworth enjoyed more possession in the second half with Nadia Williams looking dangerous in attack, Claire Miles added a second after good interplay with Di Milner and completed her hat-trick with a strike from the top of the ‘D’.  Tamworth were then awarded a penalty which Di Milner duly dispatched to give the town a 4-0 lead.   The game then became a bit stretched as both teams tired but some excellent tackles and defending from Sophie Marshall and Emily Barker kept Stone at bay before they scored a late consolation and Tamworth held on for the win.
