Match Report

The ladies 3’s opened their league campaign with a disappointing defeat to local rivals Lichfield.  It was Lichfield who made the brighter start to the match as Tamworth struggled to keep possession and find any rhythm to their game, after some sustained pressure Lichfield took the lead, the town side rallied and started to settle mounting some attacks of their own and a good move down the right flank resulted in an Elaine Foxley equaliser.  Tamworth continued to press with Chris Mander unlucky not to give the town lead as her first time effort was brilliantly saved by the keeper.  At the other end keeper Vicky Butler made a number of good saves to keep the scores level at half time.

Tamworth’s play improved greatly in the second half playing some good hockey creating chances but unable to capitalise and they were made to pay as Lichfield once again took the lead.  The town side responded superbly straight from the restart a strong run from Claire Miles set up Di Milner to slot home.  Both sides continued to attack looking for the winner, Rachel Frost made some vital tackles for the town side to keep the scores level but once again it was the towns opponents who made the breakthrough to give them all three points and a 3-2 win.
