Match Report

A mixed ladies 3rd/4th team competed in the Staffs tournament on Saturday finishing runners-up to WATS1.  Tamworth started their campaign against Bloxwich.  Bloxwich started the brighter as they put the town side immediately on the back foot taking an early lead.  Tamworth soon settled with the pace of Nadia Williams down the right flank causing many problems for the Bloxwich defence, she combined well with Hannah Roberts to set up Charlotte Rymond for the equaliser.  Hannah Roberts showed real composure to slip the ball past the outcoming keeper to give the town the lead and their first win of the day.  The next game against WATS2 Tamworth passed the ball around superbly and a mazy run from Claire Miles drew the keeper to set up Tilly Bryan to open up the scoring, Claire Miles then added a second to give the town a 2-0 win and a place in the quarter final.  A single goal from Claire Miles against Dudley was enough to send the team into the semi-final against Stafford.  The semi-final was evenly contested with both sides creating chances before Hannah Roberts scored an excellent goal to give the town the win and a place in the final against WATS1.

WATS1 had the better of the early exchanges scoring twice, Tamworth then went onto enjoy a sustained spell of pressure but were unable to take their chances with final score 2-0 to WATS.

There were excellent performances all over the pitch with juniors Nadia Williams,Hannah Roberts and Tilly Bryan superb all day.
