Tamworth Ladies Fourths Vs bloxwich

The ladies fourths secured an excellent win in this hard fought game on Saturday.  The town side started brightly with Sheri Allsop controlling the play in midfield, ably supported by the tireless running of youngsters Sophie Marshall, Alicia Dennison and Hannah Roberts.  Tamworth took the lead midway through the half when Sue Hogben slotted home following some excellent play from Hannah Roberts.  Tamworth’s back line of Bev Butler, Fiona Whittacker and Gemma Bradshaw had kept the Bloxwich forwards at bay with an excellent defensive display but a goalmouth scramble gave Bloxwich an equaliser,  Tamworth retook the lead after another goalmouth melee with Hannah Roberts getting the final touch. Once again Bloxwich hit back with a well worked goal to go into half time all square.

The second session saw the town side edge possession with some good attacking play with Laura Bostock, Gaynor Dawson and Charlotte Rymond combining well resulting in a number of short corners been awarded, from one of which Gemma Bradshaw scored Tamworth’s third goal.  Bloxwich piled on the pressure in the final 10 minutes but the towns defence stayed strong giving them a well deserved victory.
